Bighorn River: Guide, Brent Downey

Lovely day, hot at times. Patty came fishing today.
On the water about 10am and quickly stopped to dry fly a ” Pod” of fish on the left bank. Using spinner ( Trico ) I caught one, hooked another and rose two more before the rising stopped - didn’t last long!
Drifted a while and caught fish on the nymph - must be the easiest way of catching large trout anywhere in the world.
Wind came up and we had early lunch before nymphing (by wading) a good strong wide riffle - deep. Caught a number of fish but casting was horrible with weight on line and a downstream wind.
Stopped off at Red Cliffs where large fish were rising like yesterday. Wind made casting very difficult. Failed to get one fish to rise to the fly - black caddis or spinner.
We finished the day drifting - we all nearly fell in when Patty missed her seat while in the process of trying to take a photograph of a good Brown I caught - never did get the photo!
Lost a number of large fish ( 2 Rainbows) close to boat - hook pulled out.
Nothing new learned today but some more nymphing practice. Bought myself a super tippet dispenser and some small buzzers today. Finished fishing early and only did the 3 mile drift.
